In tonight’s do-or-die Pakistan Super League (PSL) encounter against Islamabad United, Karachi Kings will be hoping to go all-in under Babar Azam.
In the ongoing seventh edition of the PSL, Kings have been defeated in all six matches and another loss will eliminate them from the play-offs. Despite all the ifs and buts, a win would keep their hopes alive.
In contrast, Islamabad has gained six points in six games, putting them in a comfortable position on the points table with a win.
The teams are both coming off defeats. Peshawar Zalmi defeated Karachi Kings and Islamabad United was outclassed by Quetta Gladiators.
The current form and statistical history of Islamabad favour them over Kings, so they enter the match as favorites.
There have been 17 matches between both teams, with United winning 11 matches while Kings won six. The first leg of the tournament was won by United at the National Stadium Karachi.
Compared to Islamabad, Kings will find this match extremely challenging as all eyes will be on captain Babar Azam as they take on Lahore in the death overs.
Babar failed to save his team despite scoring two fifties in six innings at an average of 50.60 even though he scored 253 runs.
Babar’s management hopes he will lead by example and accelerate the scoreboard rather than rely on his teammates.
Islamabad United will face Karachi Kings at 7:30pm today at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore. Shadab Khan will play for Islamabad United.
